However, I am not sure that these vocals entirely resonate with either the musical or lyrical themes of this album. But, as with any masterpiece forged by human hands, behind the luster of greatness there hide a few flaws. They fit well in time with the music; that is not the problem. Spoken vocals serve to give the song an epic feel and furious drumming and nonstop guitars only augment this.

Most of the vocals are screamed and growled, except "Unchained", which features a passage with sung vocals, which Andy Synn of No Clean Signing described as having a "strong Pink Floyd feel to them". The Defeat of Satan Det tapte liv.

Add in some guitars solos perfectly matched to the song and some atmospheric, symphonic elements for contrast and a chunky closing riff section and you have experienced Antestor. Hope we can talk like reasonable people someday over a fresh squeezed juice.

The album is shadowy and foreboding, a monolith heralding these dark days and the ones to come. I had a chance to listen to it before actually getting my hands on the record itself. InAntestor returned to the studio with a vengeance and recorded The Forsaken, a legendary melodic black metal album that has become one of the pillars of Norwegian metal.

We do not hate the angry mob antestoor came to hurt us. The Norwegian black metal scene has been exploding with great bands since the 90s. I think almost everyone can relate to parts of our music and lyrics, for absolutely everyone — Christians and non-believers alike — experience hard and terrible times. On The Forsaken, I love the contrast between the clean, almost operatic female vocals and the black metal style vocals, the overall ambience and feel of the music as a whole, the interplay between the symphonic and metal elements, and then what has become the trademark Antestor-style riffs and blast beats.

Omen is highly recommended not only to un black metal fans, but also to anyone with a tolerance for extreme vocals who is a fan of well-crafted, creative metal. Long-time fans will not be disappointed with Omen and the strength of the musicianship and song writing should win Antestor new fans. Being a black metal fan myself, I have always respected the genre immensely, taking metal to the most extreme heights. On OmenAntestor took a more brutal and experimental approach.

After listening through the entire record, I can only hope that they will produce more great albums such as this over the next few years without such a large gap between releases.

Nordic Mission Treacherous Domain Unchained. The drums roll along underneath, unrelenting, and towards the end of the song the listener gets a first glimpse at a new style of sung vocals. There is no doubt that Omen is one of the crowning musical achievements of this year.
